JOHN HANCOCK OBSERVATORY HONORS CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Exclusive Drink Unveiled, Social Media Cocktail Naming Contest Kicks Off
CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Blackhawks are 2010 Stanley Cup Champions and John Hancock Observatory is joining the celebration. Yesterday, at the ceremonial opening of the Observatory’s new full liquor bar, Daniel Thomas, general manager of John Hancock Observatory, announced a new and exclusive cocktail to commemorate the championship. Thomas invited the City of Chicago to name the drink by participating in an online social media contest.
“We’re all Blackhawks fans here at John Hancock. What better way to celebrate the team’s momentous achievement than to dedicate our latest spirit creation to the Hawks. Join us a thousand feet up this Fourth of July holiday weekend and toast the Stanley Cup Champions,” said Thomas.
The cocktail with a dark red hue was created by Southern Wine and Spirits Master Mixologist Bridget Albert, the drink includes Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, fresh lemon sour, ginger and blackberries.
“I was inspired by the fresh and lively spirit of our beloved Chicago Blackhawks, and I wanted to make a cocktail that would complement the exuberance of the fans and help Chicago celebrate the Stanley Cup,” said Albert.
The “Lord Stanley Cup Competition” will be moderated through Facebook and Twitter. The contest will run through the end of July and the winner will receive a bountiful gift package containing a Sky High Annual Pass to the Observatory, two tickets to a select 2010/2011 Chicago Blackhawks game and an exclusive tasting at the Lavazza Espression Café atop John Hancock.
Entries will be judged by the John Hancock Observatory staff and the winner will be selected and announced on Monday, August 2, 2010. Participants are encouraged to suggest names for the cocktail by commenting on John Hancock Observatory Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HancockObservatory or via Twitter by sending a tweet to @aThousandFeetUp.
