GOLD MEDAL FIGURE SKATER EVAN LYSACEK TEES IT UP AT TOPGOLF
“Dancing With The Stars” Semi-Finalist Keeps Up Off-Ice Competition with Innovative Golf Game
Wood Dale, IL (February 21, 2011)—In town pre-promoting the 25th Anniversary Smucker’s Stars On Ice Tour, World Champion figure skater Evan Lysacek enjoyed a little off-the-ice competition at TopGolf, an innovative entertainment facility that combines traditional golf with cutting edge technology. Lysacek teed-up at TopGolf against Sarah Kustok, sports reporter for Comcast SportsNet, avid golfer and former college basketball all-star.
“I love to compete and last time I was in town Sarah got on the ice with me, which probably wasn’t entirely fair,” said Lysacek. “I recently took up golf, and the set-up here at TopGolf is really conducive to all skill levels so we’ve got a more level playing field now for our re-match.”
Lysacek is the latest in a growing list of celebrities that have discovered TopGolf at locations in Chicago, Washington DC and Dallas, including:
– Tony Romo, Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys
– The Plain White T’s
– Ryan Diem, Offensive Tackle and Super Bowl champion for the Indianapolis Colts
– Kenny Williams, General Manager of the Chicago White Sox
– Hunter Mahan, 3-time PGA Tour winner
– Ryan Zimmerman, Third baseman for the Washington Nationals
– Brian Mitchell, Pro Bowl kick returner and Super Bowl champion for the Washington Redskins
“I travel a lot, but like to hang out with my friends in whatever city I’m in,” said Lysacek. “TopGolf is perfect for that since they provide the clubs and the hitting bays are set-up for visiting, like a bowling lane really. Plus the scoring is automatic, so no judges to impress!”
TopGolf is an innovative entertainment facility that uses computer microchips embedded in regulation golf balls to create an interactive game for both the hard-core and first-time golfers. The state-of-the-art software includes several computer-assisted golf games in which players get points by hitting targets.
