Mayor Emanuel to Perform Ceremonial Coin Toss, Chicago Bears TE Greg Olsen Named Honorary Captain of CFD Blaze

WHATThe 1st Responder Memorial Bowl gridiron battle between the CFD Blaze and the CPD Enforcers will take place on Sunday, May 22, at St. Rita High School in front of an expected crowd of 12,000. All proceeds benefit the Police and Fire charities.

 – Ceremonial coin toss performed by Mayor Emanuel and families of the fallen.

 – “God Bless America” performed by American Idol sensation Chris Medina.

 – Flyover by police and fire aircraft.

WHOSixty-man rosters including:

– Former NFL players Gene Rowell, John Welsh, Derrick Strong and Mark Sullivan.

– Three generations of Mount Carmel lineman starting on the CFD offensive line.

– Geraldo Glover, the half brother of fallen FF/EMT Corey Ankum.

WHY“This isn’t a scrimmage, this isn’t guys just having fun. We’ve got sixty athletes on each team, including former NFL and D1 player,” said CFD Blaze coach and linebacker Rory Ohse. “We practice twice a week and could play the NYFD in the championship if we’re victorious here.”
