Star-Studded VIP Grand Opening Showcases Appeal of Dynamic Trend-Setting Golf Entertainment Concept With Locations Across the Country

ALLEN, TX (May 24, 2011)—The grand opening of the biggest TopGolf entertainment complex to-date is garnering attention across the country as the trend-setting concept rapidly expands, attracting high-profile guests and managing hours-long waitlists for a chance to play its innovative and highly addicting game.  The $10,000,000 TopGolf Allen facility officially opened on Monday, May 23rd featuring 94 hitting bays on three floors, three full-service bars, a full-service restaurant, over 5,000 sf. of private event space, hundreds of high-def flat panel TVs, rooftop cabanas and outdoor fire pits.

“Our mission is really straight-forward,” said TopGolf CEO, Joe Vrankin.  “We want to change the way the world thinks about and plays golf.  Golf is a great sport, but TopGolf is a total entertainment experience: food, drinks, music and easy-to-play, interactive games to play with friends, family and colleagues.  It’s a high-energy, party-like atmosphere and we’re so thrilled that our fans love it so much.”

For the uninitiated, TopGolf is built around microchips embedded into regulation golf balls which players hit unrestricted onto a range consisting of ten different targets.  Player points are tallied automatically based on distance and accuracy and are displayed on touch-screen monitors in private hitting bays that accommodate up to six people, complete with food and drink service.

NFL quarterback Tony Romo got in on the action at the grand opening with a friendly competition against tight end teammate, Jason Witten; nationally syndicated radio host Kidd Kraddick and PGA golf pros Hunter Mahan, Colt Knost, Notah Begay III, and Bo Van Pelt.

“I just think it’s a fun atmosphere for a group of people,” said Romo. “I think anyone that comes out here will enjoy it for sure.”  Mahan added: “TopGolf makes golf fun, so it’s a great thing.  This is a “10” no doubt, you’ve got so many targets, great food, so many aspects to just having a good time.  You could be out here all day, all weather, January thru December, banging balls.”

The grand opening also featured a performance by the Allen High School marching band, the national anthem sung by Jolie Holliday and an impromptu acoustic set by country music star Pat Green.

TopGolf also officially announced its next development locations within a year in Houston, Austin and Arlington, Texas, home of the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium.  The company already has locations in Chicago, Washington DC.

“We get calls for franchise opportunities every day,” said Randy Starr, TopGolf’s Vice President of Development.  “The communities that we’re looking at for our next sites are incredibly excited because this is still such a dynamic and new concept.  And with our new design and a focus on full-capacity entertainment the possibilities are really endless.”

TopGolf is a dynamic entertainment facility that combines the basic elements of golf with cutting-edge technology to create an easy-to-play game for players of all experience levels.  Players compete in private hitting bays that accommodate up to six people and include food and drink service, or in private event spaces for larger groups.  TopGolf is open year-round and has facilities in the Washington DC, Chicago and Dallas markets.
