Hawthorne Opens Fall Meet, Continues Race for Slot Machines

Hawthorne Race Course opened its fall thoroughbred meet with its signature stakes race, the $500,000 Gold Cup.  However, the horse racing industry continued to press the case for legislation allowing slot machines at race tracks — like the majority of other states that have both tracks and casinos.
